About Atlantic Sciences

Atlantic Sciences LLC was founded in 2005 to commercialise optical coherent detection technology. The company is owned and operated by Michael G. Taylor.

Dr. Taylor has 12 years’ experience in research and development of leading edge products in optical communications, with STC, Nortel and Ciena. Since 2003 he has been a visiting senior lecturer at University College London. His work there included the first experiments on optical coherent detection using offline digital processing, demonstrating how the method is able to compensate for fiber propagation impairments and accurately characterise optical signals. Dr. Taylor received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Oxford University in 1987, and a PhD in Electronic & Electrical Engineering from University College London in 1990.
